The Most Ornamental Waterfowl
Don't believe us? John James Audubon himself called the Mandarin, "The most ornamental bird in the world." Pictures don't do justice to all of our birds but it definitely doesn't do it justice to the Mandarin. Both perching ducks, the Wood Duck is a close cousin to the Mandarin. Although the Wood Duck lacks the iconic orange and white sails, the Wood Duck is just as breathtaking with it's oil slick pattern on it's back, it's colorful bill, and it's bright red eye.
If you love the original Mandarin and Wood Duck, the way nature intended them to be, then you'll sure love their mutations. It is important to note that these are not cross-bred, but simply genetic mutations that are observed in other animals in nature. Like the Spirit Bear, the White Mandarin shares the albinistic trait. Although not a true Albino, the White Mandarin is still stunning in its contrasting colors. The same is true for the Silver Wood Duck. Not only does it proudly display its platinum plumage, the Silver Wood Duck adds contrast to your pond with its jet black striping, while popping some color in its bill and eyes. With their quiet disposition, you'll sure to love countless hours relaxing by water and beautiful waterfowl from Überchic Ranch.
